ADAM is Hebrew for man of red earth. In the Biblical story of creation, God created the first man from the soil of Palestine which is red, therefore, the first man was called ADAM. In Hawaii a KAMA'AINA is a person born in Hawaii or a long time island resident, its literal meaning is child of the land. Another variation could be KANE O KE 'ALAEA. KANE means man and ALAEA is a type of red soil that was used in medicine and a purification ceremony.
