Adrian

ADRIAN and the feminine forms ADRIENNE and ADRIANA are from the Greek meaning rich and the Latin meaning black or dark one. The name referred originally to residents of the ancient town of Adria, which gave its name to the Adriatic Sea, and was famous for its black sand. KAIMU is the spectacular black sand beach of the Puna district of Hawaii so this seems like an apt Hawaiian equivalent for this name; another possiblility would be HIWA which means a scared and desirable black.
