Darren, Darin

DARREN, DARIN are variations of the Persian DARIUS which means a man of many possessions, wealthy. In Hawaiian the phrase KI'I MAKA NUNUI was used to describe a wealthy and important person. The phrase literally means big eyed image. In the ancient Hawaiian religion the KI'I were the images of the gods. The Hawaiianized-English form of DARREN is KALINA which could be a combination of the native Hawaiian words KA (the), and LINA (soft, sticky).
